Homemade Vitamin C Drink for Colds and Flu

Tis the season to be jolly,  but the party is over when you have a bad cold or the flu. Did you know you can make your own Immune boosting Vitamin C drink that may help you feel better using some simple ingredients that you might already have in your kitchen.

Simple Vitamin C homemade cold and flu remedy

It is truly cold and flu season, and I already have a cold (I was on an airplane where everyone was sneezing and hacking). As soon as I landed, I searched the Internet and came across an article by Anthony Williams ( The Medical Medium) and found his Vitamin C Shock Therapy that you make in your own kitchen!

His shock therapy Vitamin C drink is easy to make and tastes kind of like warm lemonade. Since scientific research has shown that Vitamin C is good for stress and helps shorten the length of a cold, I thought I would give his Vitamin C shock therapy a try.

The ingredients that I used for the Vitamin C Therapy

His drink requires that you open 2 capsules of Vitamin C and pour the contents into a cup of warm water, with freshly squeezed orange juice, and raw honey. I imagine since the powdered Vitamin C enters the body as a liquid,  the Vitamin C  in his drink is more easily and quickly absorbed into the body than traditional Vitamin C tablets.

Anthony Williams suggests using Ester C capsules (or powder) to make this drink which is a buffered form of Vitamin C that is easier on the stomach than traditional Vitamin C.  He suggests trying his therapy every 2 hours.

I initially began noticing cold symptoms on Monday night (after our flight). I started using Zicam (an over the counter zinc + supplement) which usually works for me, but it just didn't seem to be enough this time and I came down with a full blown cold. So, I made the Vitamin C drink, drank it,  and yes, it did help significantly.

Today Thursday (2 and half days later) after using the Vitamin C drink every 3 hours during my waking hours for the past two days, I think my cold is just about gone! Last night my nose was running badly; this morning all symptoms are gone. Usually my colds last about 5 days!

Personally, I will keep this formula among my natural home remedies for cold and flu that work for me!

1 cup of warm water
2 teaspoons of raw honey
Juice of 1 freshly squeezed orange or lemon
2 capsules of Ester C (opened and poured into the glass

In a glass or mug add warm water, raw honey, juice of an orange, and open two capsules of Ester C. Mix and drink.

Vegans can substitute maple syrup for the honey and you can also substitute juice of a lemon instead of the orange.

 My Notes:
1. I also took. some Vitamin D liquid, some liquid zinc,  some monolaurin and I diffused the essential oil Thieves.

  4. I love natural home medicines. This is brilliant thank you

  5. So many cold medications contain gluten. I will definitely keep this one in mind for cold season! I love citrus so sounds like it will taste great too.

  6. Thanks for the recipe. I usually drink lemon juice and honey mixed with warm water or apple cider vinegar and honey mixed with warm water.

  11. That’s a brilliant idea. It is indeed that time of year.

  12. Fascinating. This could be an important way to help others during this time of the year.

  13. I'm going to pin this. The only time I get a cold is after I get off a plane!
Got my flu shot this week.
    I wouldn't mind some 80 degree weather!

  14. Thanks for the recipe, will have to keep it in mind. I always have Ester C capsules on hand so could easily make this drink if needed.
