IN My Kitchen April 2026

It's the beginning of a new month, and I'm joining Sherry at Sherry's Pickings for her monthly blog share of IN MY KITCHEN where anyone can join in the fun and share what's doing in their kitchen.

I have 2 new decorative plates for display in my kitchen and probably use them for serving at parties.

A friend came for dinner and gave me this stylish and useful tiled trivet that she brought back from her recent trip to Morocco.

I've been spring cleaning and de-cluttering all my kitchen cabinets and organizing them. This is my spice cabinet and some storage. I got rid of any expired spices or spices from companies with high lead and cadmium levels ( I checked online with Consumer Reports).

I could not resist this beautiful colorful bowl and spoon that I saw at Homegoods! I believe it is supposed to be noodle soup bowl .

I've been in the mood for green beans lately and have enjoyed making them in various ways.

My husband got himself a jar of Italian peach jelly/jam?

It's Passover, so I have a box of gluten-free matzoh ..

I call this mud soup but it was actually a delicious black bean soup with avocado and lots of fresh lime.

I picked up sone starfruit and cut it up for dessert one night.

This is the entrance/exit in or out of my kitchen. I made a collage of wall hangings. The top picture was made by my then 6 year old grandson. The middle two were items I picked up on our trip to Israel 2 and 1/2 years ago. The bottom picture was made by my then 8 year old grandson as a gift to me for Hanukkah. I really like how all the colors and styles come together and it's a cheerful entrance into my kitchen.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.

  8. Those dishes are very appealing. We have nothing like them at all. Ours are all white, or glass. What have we been missing? Have a wonderful Passover with great food on colourful plates!

  9. It's always fun to see the pieces you have picked up or were gifted to you! I am definitely a dish person and would have more, if I only had the room. That entrance/exit is so fun, and kids love seeing their artwork on display!

  11. I love your kitchen entry -- so colorful and personal. The plates are fantastic, as is that tile piece. Isn't Home Goods the best? I almost can't allow myself to go in there!

  14. That fish plate at the top is my absolute favorite! I tend to gravitate toward dinnerware that has some form of sea life. That said, I do like the bowl and spoon that you got from Home Goods. I don’t go there very often. It’s probably good that I don’t because I imagine they have a lot of things I’d have difficulty resisting.

  15. gorgeous plates, so colourful and inviting! funny I saw in our local (tiny) supermarket that they were selling matzah last week and I thought it must be Passover. there's little mention of it in France with their emphasis of staying secular. have a great month!

  16. I grew up (on one side of the family), eating those crackers. Love your little stairs for the spices and seeing your bowls and plates. Very cool. Happy Holidays.

  17. So many lovely things to see. Your kitchen cupboard looks wonderful. Could mine look the same, I ask myself? The star fruit is so pretty, but the decorations on the entrance to your kitchen are just delightful, particularly the art works by your grandsons. I wish you a happy and peaceful Passover.

  18. The tiled trivet is beautiful...such a very nice gift!! Your green beans looks so fresh and now I am hungry for a big bowl of them. I can just taste the goodness of this healthy dish. A few months ago, I went through my pantry and discarded out of date items that I have had ...a job that needed to be done. Sure makes one feel good when everything is straightened up and you know nothing is out of date. Happy Easter....Enjoy the sweet Blessings.

  19. Your noodle bowl is especially pretty, and the tiled trivet from your friend too. I also bought gluten free matza for my son. He likes it! He says it tastes like potato chips.

  21. I always enjoy seeing what's new in your kitchen. The plate from Morocco is charming, what a special gift from your friend. Your cabinet looks nicely organized with all your spices. Italian peach jam - would love to try that. : )

  22. I just recently cleared out my spice cabinet too. It was a way overdue project. I had like 3 containers of poppy seed, doubles on paprika, mustard powder, and nutmeg. I tend to forget what I have and just pick more up when I'm at the grocers, then wonder why I never have cabinet space LOL. I love your colorful wall. And the dish! HomeGoods sucks me in with their dishes all the time!
