What ? No!! It can't be October already !!
September really flew by and now it's time once again to join Sherry at Sherry's picking for the In My Kitchen Blog Share where bloggers share what's been going on in our kitchen the month before. Why not join in?
Although I have had this pottery stoneware set since I married 53 years ago, I have not used it in years. The other day I took it out and used it as a chip and dip set. It's actually two different pieces from the same potter.
I don't usually make desserts anymore, but I made 2 different no sugar added desserts in September. I made an easy 1 ingredient- no sugar added sorbet using tangerines ( link to recipe)

Link to sorbet using tangerines recipe
dessert that is very healthy and tasty. I served it to my canasta group and everyone asked for the recipe.

That's al for today. Hope you have a great month.
I plan to be in my Florida kitchen for the next IMK!!

GREAT bowls. Can't wait to see your soups in them. Hope you take pics for us.
ReplyDeletePS: Will you share photos of your soup in those bowls?
DeleteVery pretty things in your kitchen. Just right for the autumn.
ReplyDeleteThank you .. I am ready for a little fall before I'm off to Florida.
Deletei am ready for autumn but the temperatures here are still so warm. what a pretty mum, with a perfect shape. i hope you still plan on posting from florida!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I continue in Florida (might have a few days off for the travel) Today is our first cooler day - it was 56 this morning at 8 am! high of 71... Yay I like a little fall before we take off for the warm weather in Florida.
DeleteSo many neat new kitchen items here! I have so many dish towels that I can’t bring myself to buy more!
ReplyDeleteSomehow mine get really stained looking, so I opt for new ones.
DeleteI enjoyed your post on "what's in my kitchen," as the kitchen is the heart of the home, and you have some wonderful items, starting with those pretty MUMS! I like your apple dish towel too. And that pumpkin is so delightful! I sometimes buy a pumpkin just because of the stem, and this one is very unique. The oatmeal cookies look Yummy!
ReplyDeleteHappy 1st day of October!
~Sheri
It's so true. The kitchen is the heart of the home!
DeleteI love all your photos, Judee! What a glorious celebration of Autumn and October! I love the month of October. And yes, I really love Autumn! Your bowls, napkins, cookies and sorbet look amazing! I also love the hand towel!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. I hav a thing for napkins and pick them up in Homegoods whenever I see new selections. I feel like they are so pretty and festive. Sometime I put some away to bring to someone for a gift when we are invited for dinner.
DeleteWhat a delightful kitchen update. I love how you’ve brought out cherished pieces like the pottery chip-and-dip set. It’s wonderful when something treasured finds a new purpose. The fall touches with towels, napkins, and even your basil sprouting roots make the kitchen feel so cozy and alive. And those no-sugar desserts sound both clever and delicious, especially the tangerine sorbet, so simple yet refreshing. A truly inspiring way to welcome October in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteThank you Melody- you said it all better than I did..
DeleteLoving the autumn themed stuff and lovve those green bowls, they look so good and handy :-D
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm pleased with my new bowls and am excited to use them.
DeleteIt always seems to me that the items one uses for food preparation and the dishes one serves them in are important additions to the whole dining experience. You have some outstanding examples here and if ever I should visit you I will insist that we have chips and dip in that exquisite stoneware set that lures us in at the very start to this post. The soup bowls, too, are enchanting so I had better stay for potage aux pois. Better you don’t show me the main dining set!
ReplyDeleteI agree- the serving pieces and the dishes are part of the eating experience. I do love a variety of good bowls since I make soup very often. My best bowls are in Florida.
DeleteAgreed, I feel completely blindsided by October. I swear it came out of nowhere! I absolutely adore you soup bowls though; if we were neighbors, I would beg to borrow them for photos! As it is, I'm seeing if I can buy my own set online...
ReplyDeleteI got mine in my favorite store- Homegoods! I very seldom make it out of there without a purchase... everything is so tempting.
DeleteThat mum and the stoneware -- WOW! But I just love, love, love those napkins. I hope I can find some like that -- they do scream fall (and they'd look great with my Fiesta!). I love dish towels but I can't bear to use my pretty tea towels so I alternate displaying them. Which reminds me, it's time to change out the summery ones to fall!
ReplyDeleteThe best selection of napkins in my area is at Homegoods! It seems like they have hundreds of all different varieties and very seasonal.
DeleteNice kitchen items in your kitchen this month. I love the pottery stone set. I also love changing out the kitchen linens for the season. I hope you get to enjoy a bit of Fall before heading back to Florida.
ReplyDeleteI think we finally are getting a bit of fall. It only went up to a high of around 68 degrees today and a low of 48...
DeleteI can't believe it's October either! Although it is starting to feel more like fall. Anyway, I always love a peek into your kitchen. Your apple towel and pastoral napkins are so cute! 🍎🍂
ReplyDeleteThank you. The apple towel is festive

ReplyDeletethanks
Deletelove all the bowls for nuts etc!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tandy. I bought an entire set in the antique store and Im surprised how much I use them for serving when I have friends over for cards or mahjong. They are perfect little servers and pretty too.
DeleteOMG I love the pottery pieces! The design has not aged, as some pieces do. The colors and glazing is still lovely! One of my favorite past times is walking through little shops for that perfect bowl or platter, it is so fun to use just the right piece of serving ware for the snacks and such we offer family and friends. Love the soup bowls!
ReplyDeleteThank you Melinda- I bought them so long ago that I am hoping they are safe to use for eating. Not sure they were so careful over 50 years ago and the potter no longer is around
DeleteYour plates are so pretty as are the napkins and the soup bowls are divine! I am very excited for soup season. I think you did so well with the basil, I can never keep it alive! Hope you have a delicious month ahead.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sammie. I'm making soup today!!
DeleteThose Pfaltzgraff bowls are wonderful and I can see how you couldn’t pass them up. Good for you for rooting basil. I have it rooting all of the time, and continue to plant it outside in succession so I always have some available. It’s going to be a long winter without it, so I have been making as much pesto as possible. I haven’t been growing mint because I container garden, but not too long ago I brought home a mint sprig from a restaurant, rooted it, and it’s growing like crazy outside.
ReplyDeleteYes- I don't need them but I couldn't pass them up..
DeleteI like your new kitchen hand towel covered in apples ... perfect for Autumn/Fall.
ReplyDeleteHave a good October - the year is flying by!
All the best Jan
Oh my! so many gorgeous pieces of china/ceramics. Love the Pfaltzgraff pieces! and that wonderful chip and dip set. I used to grow basil in the back garden but the bugs and possums got 'em! We are heading into a hot spring here; funny to think autumn is on your horizon now. Oh love the napkins too! Have a great month. thanks for joining in!
ReplyDeletecheers

Love your bowls! Today has been a day of discovering how mature some of our IMK group are, I never would have guessed since you all "write" so young. I'm eyeing up that oatmeal apple cookie recipe... have a great October x
ReplyDeleteLots of lovely fall colours and designs in your kitchen - those serviettes and tea towel are so lovely. I love your pottery stoneware set - is it a wedding gift. I used to love my mum talking about getting crockery in the kitchen for a wedding present. Now I can do the same, though I don't use a lot of my good wedding gifts often. And I need more of those healthy sweet treats - I don't bake as much as I used to but sometimes I just get that itch to bake
ReplyDeleteoops I think I put in the last comment as anon
