The Signs of Fall

Just because it's well past Sept 22 and officially fall, it still doesn't feel like fall to me.

neighborhood with green grass and green trees

The temperatures have dropped into the 50's at night and in early morning, but it still doesn't feels like fall to me

The farms are selling pumpkins and gourds,
but it still doesn't feel like fall to me.

There are beautiful mums of all colors and sizes, but
it still doesn't feel like fall to me

My neighbors have decorated their lawns for fall, but it still doesn't feel like fall to me.

When will it finally feel like fall to me?

For me, the first sign of fall is when the leaves on the trees begin to change colors-

Then it feels like fall to me !!!

I've been waiting patiently for it to feel like fall

Today for the first time, I noticed the leaves on the trees are changing from greens to reds and yellows! It seemed to have happened overnight!

Now it officially feels like fall to me !!

Soon we will be marveling at all the beautiful colors on the trees as we leave Pennsylvania to drive south for 20 hours along the long 95 corridor to our Florida destination.

What makes you feel like
fall has arrived ??

My Notes:
I added new fonts and although this one was very cute, it did not publish the same way and now I can't change it back. Don't know why. Hoping my future fonts will come through ok in future posts..

  1. Pumpkins and turning leaves are fall to me and it seems like they are turning earlier this year here.

  2. Our leaves in Michigan are slow too. The yellows are starting but the oranges and reds are taking their own sweet time. And yes, it never feels fully fall until the leaves turn!

  5. Color changes are one of the signals... but for me, it's never really autumn until we have a cold snap and it's suddenly possible to snuggle in sweaters and corduroy, maybe even make it to the cider mill for hot cider and a fresh donut... We're getting a cool rain today. Maybe next week it will feel like autumn!

  6. Before yesterday the 85 degree high temperatures screamed Summer. Last night a cold front came through and dropped today's high by ten degrees. Now it's Fall.

  8. Oh boy, it's still warm over here, sea great to swim, tourists gone, olives waiting to be picked and turned into golden oil... maybe All Souls Day will bring the scents of autumn, we'll see...... :-)

  10. Such lovely photos of Fall in your area. I especially like the picture of the orange pumpkins all lined up. That is surely a long drive from Pennsylvania to Florida. I hear that they don't get much Fall color there. Have a safe journey. We're starting to see the colors change here in the mountains of northern California. Your neighbor's lawn is decorated beautifully for Fall. I'm glad you are starting to feel it's Fall there now.
