I Stand With Israel

Israel is home to many of our close relatives.
This is a very sad and scary time for us!

As some of my readers may know, my husband (Jewish) was born in Cairo Egypt in 1948 to Jewish parents who were born and lived their lives in Egypt and grandparents who lived their lives in Egypt as well.

In 1966, death threats and violence for Jews became so dangerous in Arab countries that most of the Jews who lived in Egypt (as well as many other Arab countries) had to flee for their lives leaving their homes, businesses, money, jewelry etc. behind.

Many of those Jews fled to Israel as refugees arriving destitute and penniless. Others went to US, Canada, and France.
The broken hearted destitute Jewish refugees from Arab countries moved on and worked very hard to re-build their lives as refugees. My husband's family of parents and 5 siblings went first to France and eventually to the US.

We have visited the beautiful country of Israel many times; our most recent trip was in this past June of 2023.

I'd like to share some of my photos from that trip. I saw the idea to share photos of Israel from Mae at Mae's Food Blog who shared some of her personal photos of Israel.

Visiting our first cousins and their children for a lovely dinner.
The boy with the black shirt was called to the Army
this week to fight for his country and help defend and protect Israel.

Visiting cousins in Jerusalem. Her daughter was in the army but was home for the weekend.
I took a photo with our lovely young cousin's daughter- 19 years old before she returned to the army base in June.
Currently, she is in  active combat fighting and
defending her country. Very Scary I've known since she was born.

  4. I think this brutal attack and war is affecting us all in one way or another, if nothing else, emotionally. But for someone like you who has not only visited but still has family on the ground, it must be especially tragic and terrifying. I send prayers and good wishes your way for the safety of your family.

  8. There are no words that can offer peace to one's heart. And sorry seems over used. May this insane, brutal war end and all your family be safe once again.

  10. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos. I stand for Israel as well, and pray for the people there. I have a dear friend who is from Israel. Most of her family are there, and she is so frightened for them. I agree, this brutal war needs to end. I will be praying for your family as well as all of Israel.

  11. Judee this is a timely and wonderful post and in this house, we both stand with Israel and pray for the peace of Israel. My dentist, a man beloved of our family, is a Jew and just returned with his son from a trip to Israel. He is so heartbroken now. God please help! Your photos are so good and it looks like such a beautiful place. I have never been but I don't fly so that is the reason. God bless! xoxo

  14. Such a heartbreaking situation - and the world seems to be going particularly insane over the last few years! I've never visited Israel, but my husband has Jewish roots, and he even lived in Israel for a few years; this country is on my travel bucket list. Good wishes to your family!
